Not My Best Day

Today was my big day. My very first marathon - and probably my last I might add. Not sure what triggered my "issue" but had to hit a port-a-pottie at mile 8. Then again at 13, 15, 16, etc., for a total of six stops. They don't have the most kindest, gentlest toilet paper in those things. After mile 18, I began to have dehydration issues - leg and stomach cramping. I did manage to finish. My goal was to be under 4 hours and I came in at 4:41:28. Very disappointing. What a mental battle to keep putting one foot in front of the other! My running partner did great finishing at 4:10. Wish we could have stayed together. I'm very stiff and sore and have been working hard at re-hydrating myself. The best part of my day was Charles surprising me by jumping out onto the course at 15 mile. Didn't know he was coming! It was great to have him there. It is amazing he still loves me after seeing me like that. So glad to be home. I'm a bit scared to go to bed tonight. I'm afraid rigor mortis may set in!

BTW!! Nick had a big district meet yesterday!! Ran the mile in 4:32! Zoiks! I could have used a bit of that mojo today!!

WOW!

Unbelievable! I've finished kindergarten!! Last week was my last week of student teaching. Monday, May 2nd, was my last 2 classes for the semester. What a relief to have that all behind me. But my relief is short lived. My "Maymester" (a semester's worth of work crammed into three weeks) starts next week. My sanity is clinging to the fact that Mom and Dad are flying out on Monday and will be staying for two weeks to help manage everyone's schedules. My prediction is that at the end of May I will either be qualified to a.) get my Master's degree or b.) be admitted into a psych ward...
